Jesse Gerald, Senior Community & Partnership Officer for the Perry Barr Constituency has circulated a letter from PC Woods to the residents of Digbeth and Highgate. There is genuine concern that residents could be the victims of a scam. They ask that you be vigilant and inform your neighbours to be aware in the run up to Christmas.

Controversial spy cameras removed after being secretly put up by counter-terrorism officials in two predominantly Muslim areas of Birmingham are being recycled for Olympics security – for £1 each. West Midlands Police has handed 22 number plate recognition cameras to the Metropolitan Police, nine to Strathclyde and two to Essex to help protect venues during next year’s Olympics.

United Birmingham has organised a peace event in Summerfield Park, starting at 3pm tomorrow (August 14), which is open to all-comers and supported by faith and community organisations.
