Hands on Handsworth

Hands on Handsworth is a community blog, for local residents to have their say, share views and get involved. The blog was started to help get information out to the local neighbourhood and provide a way for local people to voice there views on a range of issues. The blog followed on from the success that Kate Foley who was the neighbourhood manager had with theĀ  Life in Lozells blog.

Highgate, Digbeth & St Andrews

Since July 2009 local representatives have been speaking to service providers (such as the Police and the local Health Providers) and local residents to find out what their priorities are for the area. Based on these discussions and on other statistics, an Action Plan to improve the quality of life in the area was formulated.

Life In Lozells

The Life in Lozells website was set up by Lozells Neighbourhood Management. Neighbourhood Management is a partnership, chaired by a ward councillor, that co-ordinates the work of services in the area. This includes public, private and third-sector organisations. The aim is to make sure that residents of Lozells have access to services that are convenient to use, that complement one another, and that deal with their issues in an holistic manner; that they take pride in their local area; and that they are able to influence decisions that affect them.

Newtown Neighbourhood Forum

The Newtown Neighbourhood Forum are a group residents from the local community who have volunteered to come together (originally with the support from the former Newtown Neighbourhood Management team) with a mutual interest in mind, that being the wellbeing of Newtown.

Our Summerfield

The neighbourhood of Summerfield is situated approximately one mile from the city centre north of Edgbaston reservoir. Summerfield is a highly desirable location with a wide range of properties ranging from large three storey homes, some of which have been converted into apartments and flats for multiple occupancy to early 1970s traditional terraced family homes with many properties having open views across the reservoir.

Soho and Proud

If you look at the area map you can get a pretty good idea why one bit of this neighbourhood is called Soho Finger. The neighbourhood profile, which is the official document describing the neighbourhoods, says that Soho Finger and Gib Heath runs from the West Bromwich border of Sandwell, marked by the West Bromwich Albion (WBA) Football Stadium and the Hockley Flyover, bounded to the north by the Soho Road/Hollyhead Road and to the south by the railway/Metro line.

Sparkhill Together

The Sparkhill Together website has been set up by Sparkhill North and Central Neighbourhood Management. The Sparkhill North and Central Neighbourhood Management area covers the city side section of Springfield ward and the section of Sparkbrook ward known as the Balti Triangle.
