Aston Reinvestment Trust

ART is a specialist loan finance company that lends alone or alongside the banks or other financers, providing funds for cash flow or capital investment. ART aims to boost the local economy by supporting enterprise and helping to create and safeguard jobs. Since commencement in 1997, ART has lent a total of £4.7m to over 250 borrowers enabling them to create or protect in excess of 2000 jobs in the Birmingham area.

Birmingham City Council – External Funding Support

The Council established the External Funding Support Unit (EFS) to enable local community groups to make the best use of the many different sources of funding available. The EFS webpage offers a portal to GrantNet, a database of over 4000 funders. This search facility is free.

Birmingham Community Foundation

The Birmingham Community Foundation, established in 1995 promotes and supports local charitable and community activity through a range of effective grant making programmes in areas of poverty and deprivation in Birmingham and the Black Country. The endowment fund is made up of a pool of donor funds, which are invested and the income of which used to meet local needs, forever – “the gift that keeps on giving”

It does this by offering expertise and funding in flexible ways – for example, by helping VCOs to fill gaps in their funding, or by providing consultancy to assist them in developing new income streams or broadening existing ones.

The Cranfield trust is a national charity providing free consultancy to small and medium sized charities across the UK in a variety of management areas. To do this Cranfield Trust hold a register of approximately 500 volunteers from the commercial sector, all of whom hold professional qualifications, such as MBAs (Masters of Business Administration Degrees) or Accountancy qualifications.

A website that was set up by a carer, Julia Tyrrell. The site provides information on charities and Trusts provide funding towards the high cost of disability equipment, holidays, housing, days out and anything above and beyond the normal costs of everyday living.

Funding Central

Funding Central is a free website for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises – providing access to thousands of funding and finance opportunities, plus a wealth of tools and resources supporting organisations to develop sustainable income strategies appropriate to their needs. Phase one of Funding Central was launched on 17 June 2009. This is a growing resource and any feedback that you might have to help improve the service are welcome.
