Advice Bus Pilot

On The Move...

This pilot programme was run in collaboration with Birmingham City Council Equalities Dept (which owned the vehicles). We ran a series of mobile advice surgeries targeting community hubs based in the priority areas of Birmingham, including:

  • Sparkbrook Family Centre
  • Nechells POD
  • Nechells Baths Building
  • Handsworth Park Leisure Centre

The advice sessions covered two broad topics — governance issues and women’s issues. The governance issues sessions were delivered by CN4B in conjunction with The Digbeth Trust, Moseley Community Development Trust and The Muath Trust. Women’s advisory sessions were delivered by WAITS and Eureka Associates.

This was an initiative of Community Network 4 Birmingham and supported by: The Digbeth Trust/Platform Partnership, W.A.I.T.S., Chamberlain Forum and Birmingham City Council’s Midnight Bus.

A number of other agencies assisted in delivering these sessions [details to follow] by offering specialist advice. We thank all those involved for their voluntary input as advisors, and particular thanks to John Shannon and Kieran Clarke from The Digbeth Trust for their assistance in developing this pilot initiative.
