Heritage on Film: Birmingham’s young people explore the past

Young people from Friction Arts, a Birmingham based arts organisation, are captured on camera in a short film celebrating youth project supported by Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Their I-land life project explored the heritage of ethnic minority communities in Birmingham from the 1950s to the present day.

New guidance highlights importance for employers of managing stress during tough economic times

Pinpointing the “red tape” burdens which could be lifted

A number of sector responses to the Big Society De-regulation Taskforce have appeared, giving input on the top red tape burdens for voluntary organisations. Civil Society Media reports that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland is warning that the Taskforce’s focus on England and Wales could create more complexity given “the problem of legislation and regulation which overlaps other jurisdictions within the UK.

Ladywood Games 2010

Sport - Football

On 11th June 2010 Nelson School again hosted the fourth Ladywood Games, sponsored by Birmingham City Council, with local schools in the area competing against each other for the Ladywood games shield. Year 5 and 6 students from Barford, St Thomas, St Patrick’s, Nelson, Oratory, St Johns St George’s and Brookfields competed in athletics, football, basketball and uni hockey for the coveted title of Ladywood games Champions 2010.
