About the survey:

Counting the Costs 2010 was carried out between February and April 2010 and completed by 1,113 UK respondents.
All respondents are parents of disabled children:

  • 224 have a disabled child aged 0 to 5
  • 549 have a disabled child aged 6 to 12
  • 340 have a disabled child aged 13 to 19

Counting the Costs 2010 was an online survey made up of open and closed questions. It is a repeat of a survey carried out by Contact a Family in 2008 and the same questions have been used to enable comparison. However

additional questions were added to the 2010 survey. We added questions on the benefits system, working and childcare.
